What is your purpose???

Ephesians 1:11-12 says “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.”

The definition of purpose is:

  • the reason for what something is done or created for which something exists.
  • One’s intention or objective
  • The aim or goal of a person; what a person is trying to do or become

Most people identify their purpose as something that they LOVE to do. Something that does not feel like a burden or they hate to wake up in the morning to do. I know at times we can get overwhelmed with so much on our plates like jobs, families, activities and so forth but when you are aligned in your purpose you feel as if you were born to do these things. No matter how much there is on your plate, you still feel as if you can get it done and you do it with a smile on your face and a graceful attitude. purpose

At one point of my life I was the part owner of a restaurant, a mother, a wife, coach of my daughter’s basketball team, and I worked in the fashion industry for a major retail company. People would look at me and ask “how can you do all of this and not be burned out?” I had no idea how I was managing to make it all happen but I knew that I was born to do all of those things in that season because I would wake up everyday looking forward to whatever was going to come my way. It was entertaining and I absolutely loved it.

When that season was coming to an end I knew that too. I didn’t want to go to the restaurant at all anymore, it was a hassle to deal with other people’s children (don’t judge me lol…. ya’ll know kids be showing out sometimes), I had no desire to shop or help others shop. I just simply was OVER IT!!! I wanted out….

Don’t get me wrong, I was successful in all of these areas and was making a lot of money from it but my heart was simply not in it.

John 15:2 says “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

To prune means to:

  • Cut away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth
  • Cut away
  • Reduce the extent of something by removing unwanted parts
  • Trim, decrease, diminish, downsize or shrink

God will trim everything out of your life that will cause you to not be fruitful or live in his light. It may be a relationship, job, event you wanted to attend, etc… but he will end it so you can be in his light. In return, this will make you better because at times we tend to learn from our disappointments. You grow and become even better prepared for your next endeavor or season. Don’t look at your situation like you aren’t worthy or a failure but rather take it as God pruning  you for your next season.

I left everything!! I left relationships that were hindering me. I left financial situations because I was not living in my purpose but rather living for others and not doing what God had put on my heart. Now I am finally doing what I know God is telling me to do. He always makes a way for you to survive and be successful and the money will come eventually but you just simply have to listen to your heart and God will tell you what to do. There will be no questions about it, you will just KNOW!!!

So…………..

WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE????

Live Beautifully people
